History · A greeting from the Silk Road
Add a story to your journey.
Built in 1229 by Alaeddin Keykubad I, Sultanhanı is one of the most impressive monuments of Aksaray’s Seljuk heritage. Its geometrically decorated portal leads into an open courtyard with a raised prayer hall at its centre. The vaulted indoor section evokes the scale of ancient caravan journeys.
Before you go
Allow time to admire the portal’s decorations and the raised prayer hall in the courtyard. Wear comfortable shoes for the stone surfaces.
Plan your visit at your own pace. Opening times, entry conditions and transport options may change, so check current information before setting off.
